The IEEE International Joint Conference on Biometrics (IJCB) 2024 is committed to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in the biometrics community. We are pleased to announce the call for nominations for the IEEE IJCB 2024 DEI Awards, which honor those who have shown exceptional leadership and innovation in promoting DEI. We encourage the community to nominate deserving candidates to help create a more inclusive and equitable future in biometrics.
The award categories for the IEEE IJCB 2024 DEI Awards include three distinct recognitions:
- Excellence in DEI Leadership honors an individual or group that has significantly advanced diversity, equity, and inclusion in the biometrics community, demonstrating exceptional leadership in advocating for underrepresented groups and fostering inclusivity.
- Innovative DEI Practices in Biometrics recognize an organization or team that has implemented groundbreaking practices, policies, or programs that substantially improve DEI in the field with measurable results.
- The Rising Star in DEI Advocacy award is for an early-career professional or student who has shown outstanding promise and commitment to DEI through leadership, research, outreach, or community involvement.
Eligible nominees include individuals, groups, or organizations actively involved in biometrics. Self-nominations are welcome. Nominations should demonstrate the nominee’s contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) with specific examples and measurable impacts.
Submission Guidelines
Nominations should include a nomination letter (up to two pages) detailing the nominee’s contributions to DEI in the biometrics field, along with supporting documentation—such as examples of initiatives, programs, or research—that demonstrate the nominee’s impact (up to five pages). A brief biography or organizational profile of the nominee (maximum one page) should also be provided.
Nominations should be submitted electronically in PDF format to ieeeijcb.deiawards@gmail.com with the subject line “IEEE IJCB 2024 DEI Award Nomination – [Nominee’s Name/Organization]”.
Submission Deadline:
- Non-Students nominations must be submitted by August 20th, 2024.
- Nominations from Students must be submitted by September 3rd, 2024.
Submission Process
The DEI Awards will be presented during the IEEE IJCB 2024 conference.
